About Cat´s Only
Cats Only Veterinary Hospital is exclusively for felines, not because Dr. Wooley doesn’t like dogs (when you meet her, ask her how she assists with the feeding and care of dozens of rescue dogs), but because veterinary care for cats, delivered in a feline only setting, is better for the patient. As Dr. Wooley explains, "A veterinary service center that is free of the smell of potential predators like dogs, even for those cats that live with dogs, feels safer to cats. Pet owners will immediately notice the difference. Cats that meow, cry, or growl in the traditional small animal setting, are much more likely to be calm in a feline-only hospital. You also don’t have any barking in the background or any big dog face sniffing at the front of your carrier, something that happens in the lobbies of many veterinary hospitals.
The other big advantage of a feline-only practice is the expert skills that staff members develop over time. Unlike a regular veterinary hospital where team members have to learn how to hold, treat, and care for a variety of species, Cats Only team members train on one species. That means they are expert at holding, calming, understanding, diagnosing, and treating your cat. It’s great for your pet because you can be sure that our skills have been honed to support both the physical and emotional wellbeing of your feline friend.

About McSnip
What is McSnip?
The Mercer Country Spay Neuter Incentive Program, McSNIP, is run by veterinarian, Dr. Carolyn Wooley. It is a feline-only clinic that focuses on spaying and neutering cats with special pricing for feral and shelter cats.
Why Spay or Neuter Feral Cats?
Both cats and communities benefit when feral cats are spayed or neutered. There is an overpopulation of cats in the United States, especially in urban areas like nearby Trenton. While some small colonies of feral cats can survive well in the wild, just a few cycles of reproduction can exponentially increase the number of cats to unsustainable numbers. All feral cats then become prone to inbreeding, illness, and the hazards of living on the streets. They also live stressful lives as males fight one another for access to females and harass females for a chance to mate. Spayed and neutered colonies of feral cats live healthier, happier, longer lives.
Can Only Adult Cats Be Spayed or Neutered?
No. Some veterinarians wait to spay cats until they are 6 months old. While that is fine for cats living domestically, it is too late for cats living in the wild. At McSNIP, Dr. Wooley advocates for pediatric spay/neuter or as soon as soon as the cat is 2 months of age or 2 pounds in weight. Spaying or neutering young cats may require more skill, but it is not of any more risk to the patient than waiting until he or she is older. Young cats recover faster from the spay neuter experience and aren’t as stressed from the experience as their older counterparts.
